Nordic Gentry Zinc BisglycinateZinc + Copper, both in chelated mineral form (bisglycinate) for optimal absorption and stomach friendliness .

Copper added for mineral balance – prolonged high zinc intake can interfere with copper absorption and create copper deficiency. Therefore, copper is included in a balanced 10:1 ratio to ensure optimal balance.

Zinc – one of the body's most important minerals
Involved in over 300 enzymatic processes , including normal testosterone levels, fertility and reproduction *. The body cannot store or absorb zinc effectively from food – regular intake is essential .

Why supplementation is important:
Zinc is found in shellfish, meat, nuts and legumes, but absorption is strongly affected by the composition of the diet. Protein improves absorption, while phytic acid (in grains and legumes) reduces it. Zinc deficiency is one of the most common mineral deficiencies in Sweden – especially in people with a plant-based diet.

Questions & Answers

Does zinc affect testosterone levels?

Zinc contributes to maintaining normal testosterone levels in the blood (approved health claim according to EU 432/2012).

This means that sufficient zinc intake is important for the body's normal testosterone production. Zinc does not contribute to raising testosterone above normal levels, but supports the body's normal hormonal balance. If you suspect zinc deficiency or hormonal imbalances, contact your doctor for blood tests and individual advice. Also see our lab tests where zinc levels are included as a component.

Why do I need to take zinc regularly?

The body cannot store zinc to any great extent, making regular intake important. In addition, zinc absorption is affected by the composition of the diet - protein improves absorption, while phytic acid in grains and legumes can reduce it.

This means that people with a plant-based diet may have a harder time getting enough zinc from food. Regular intake ensures that the body gets enough zinc for its normal functions.

Why is zinc bisglycinate better than other forms of zinc?

Zinc bisglycinate is a chelated form where the zinc is bound to the amino acid glycine. This provides several advantages: significantly higher absorption compared to zinc oxide, stomach-friendly (rarely causes nausea), and the zinc is protected throughout the digestive tract, which provides good bioavailability. Simpler forms such as zinc oxide and zinc sulfate have poorer absorption and can cause stomach upset.

Why does the product contain both zinc and copper in a 10:1 ratio?

Zinc and copper compete for the same absorption pathways in the intestine. Long-term high zinc intake can impair copper absorption and over time lead to copper deficiency.

Our balanced 10:1 ratio (15 mg zinc | 1.5 mg copper) ensures that both minerals can be absorbed effectively without negatively competing with each other.

How much zinc do I really need?

The Swedish National Food Administration's nutritional recommendation is 9 mg/day for men and 7 mg/day for women. Our dose of 15 mg (150% of the NRV) gives you 150% of the daily reference value. Zinc needs may vary depending on lifestyle, diet and individual factors. Please consult your doctor if you are unsure of your individual dose. We also offer lab tests where the level of zinc is a component.

What signs may indicate zinc deficiency?

Common signs of zinc deficiency may include: recurring colds, slow wound healing, hair loss, impaired sense of taste and smell, skin problems, white spots on the nails. Zinc deficiency is relatively common, especially in vegetarians/vegans, the elderly, and people with intestinal problems. The only way to be sure of your zinc status is through a blood test. Contact your doctor if you suspect a deficiency.

When should I take zinc?

Take 1 capsule daily with a meal. Zinc is better absorbed with food and reduces the risk of stomach upset. Avoid taking zinc at the same time as iron supplements, calcium supplements or high-fiber meals as these may reduce absorption. Take preferably 2-3 hours apart from these.

Can I take too much zinc?

The upper safe limit (UL) for zinc is 25 mg/day according to EFSA (European Food Safety Authority). Our dose of 15 mg is well below this limit. Very high doses of zinc (>40 mg/day) over a long period of time can cause side effects such as nausea, copper and iron deficiency, and negatively affect the immune system. At the recommended dosage, the product is safe for long-term use. The recommended dose should not be exceeded.

Who especially needs zinc supplements?

Groups who may have increased zinc needs include: vegetarians and vegans (phytates in plant-based diets reduce zinc absorption), athletes (zinc is lost through sweat), pregnant and breastfeeding women, the elderly (may have poorer absorption), people with alcohol problems, and those with intestinal problems (Crohn's, celiac disease, IBS). Contact your doctor for individual advice.

Can women take this product?

Absolutely. The product is suitable for both men and women. Zinc contributes to the normal function of the immune system, to the maintenance of normal hair, skin and nails, and to normal fertility and reproduction (approved health claims according to EU 432/2012).

How does diet affect my zinc absorption?

Protein improves zinc absorption, while phytic acid found in grains and legumes can reduce it. This means that people on a plant-based diet may have a harder time getting enough zinc from their food. The zinc bisglycinate in our product is better absorbed than many other forms of zinc and is less affected by diet.

What are the approved health benefits of zinc?

Zinc contributes to: the normal function of the immune system, the maintenance of normal testosterone levels in the blood, normal hair, normal skin, normal nails, normal vision, normal bones, normal cognitive function, normal DNA synthesis, normal fertility and reproduction, normal protein synthesis, the protection of cells from oxidative stress, and has a role in the process of cell division. (approved health claims according to EU 432/2012)

What are the approved health benefits of copper?

Copper contributes to: maintaining normal connective tissue, normal energy-yielding metabolism, normal functioning of the nervous system, normal hair and skin pigmentation, normal iron transport in the body, normal functioning of the immune system, and protecting cells from oxidative stress. (approved health claims according to EU 432/2012)

Is the product vegan?

Yes, both Zinc Bisglycinate and Copper Bisglycinate are 100% vegan. The capsules are made from HPMC (hydroxypropyl methylcellulose) - a plant-based cellulose. The product contains no animal ingredients.

How should I store the product?

Store the product in a dry place and out of direct sunlight. Keep the container tightly closed after use. Keep out of reach of children. See the best before date on the packaging.

How long does a can last?

One bottle contains 90 capsules. At the recommended dose (1 capsule daily), the bottle will last for 90 days, which is approximately 3 months.

Can I combine this with other supplements?

Yes, but avoid taking zinc at the same time as high doses of iron or calcium as these can compete for absorption. Take 2-3 hours apart. Zinc can also be combined with most other vitamins and minerals. Consult your doctor if you are taking medications or have any underlying health conditions.

How quickly will I notice effects?

It varies depending on your starting point and individual factors. Dietary supplements work over time to contribute to normal function. If you suspect a mineral deficiency, contact your doctor for blood tests and individual advice.

Can I take the product during pregnancy or breastfeeding?

The product is suitable for adults. If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, we recommend that you consult your doctor or midwife before using dietary supplements, to ensure that the dosage is appropriate for your individual situation.
